Our Diagnostic Review service is our introductory service when beginning work with a new client.
The purpose of the Diagnostic Review is to determine the current state of your books to give us an idea as to how out-of-sync it may be. Issues in your books could be causing significant problems with your financial statements. This is strictly a review – we do not change transactions or modify your QuickBooks Online account in any way.
From the preliminary financial statements, an experienced bookkeeper can identify if something seems “off” and investigate further. Common issues include transactions being incorrectly categorized or appearing on the wrong financial statements. By working closely with the business owner, the bookkeeper will ask detailed questions to fully understand the business and pinpoint problem areas.
They will also review your chart of accounts to ensure accounts are set up properly, eliminating any duplicates, and ensuring everything is mapped correctly. Similarly, product/service lists will be checked to verify that they are properly configured. We present the issues we find to you for your review.
During this review of your QuickBooks Online account, our focus will be on your:
- Chart of Accounts,
- Product/Service Mappings,
- Bank Feed,
- Bank Rules,
- Revenue/Expense Categorizations,
- Reconciliation Status, and
- Basic Review of Financial Statements
- We do NOT modify transactions or your QBO account in any way during the Diagnostic Review
If you wish to continue working with Cape May Counting House, the next step would be a Cleanup of your QuickBooks Online account. Cleanups can be very time-consuming depending upon the amount of issues we identify during the Diagnostic Review. A Cleanup is also required before we can take on a new monthly bookkeeping client. We want to make sure that your books are in order before we can begin the process of creating workflows on how to handle your monthly bookkeeping.
